Victoria Falls Bungee Preparation and Safety Briefing

Participants receive thorough safety briefings and instructions before the jump. This includes information about the equipment, proper body positioning, and safety measures to follow during the jump. After the beriefing they are securely harnessed to the bungee cord or rope. The harness is typically attached to the waist and ankels.

Once harnessed, the participant takes a leap off the bridge. The initial phase of the jump involves a free fall. During this phase, the person accelerates downward due to gravity. As the participant falls, the bungee cord or rope stretches. The cord is made of a highly elastic material, such as rubber or latex. The stretching of the cord helps to decelerate the fall, reducing the impact force on the jumper .

What causes bouncing during a bungee jumping at Victoria Falls?

After reaching the maximum stretch, the bungee cord starts to recoil.

This recoil phase causes the participant to bounce back upward. The bouncing motion is a result of the stored potential energy in the stretched bungee cord being converted back into kinetic energy . The bouncing up and down continues in a series of oscillations. Each bounce is successively smaller as energy is dissipated through air resistance, internal friction within the cord, and other factors. Eventually, the oscillations dampen, and the participant comes to a stabilized position. This is typically when the bouncing is gentle, and the person is left hanging in mid-air.

How do people get back to the platform on the bridge after a Victoria Falls bungee?

To get the participant back to the platform or bridge, a recovery system is employed. This could involve using a secondary line or winching mechanism to pull the participant back up to the starting point. The retrieval process is carefully managed to ensure the participant's safety. The entire experience provides an intense rush of adrenaline as the jumper goes through the thrilling phases of free fall, rebound, and eventual stabilization before being safely brought back to the platform or bridge.
