Your African adventure begins with your arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport in Zimbabwe. Upon arrival, a representative from African Fairytale Tours & Safaris will welcome you and assist with your transfer to your accommodation in Victoria Falls.
During the transfer, you will have an opportunity to become familiar with the town and its surroundings. Upon arrival at the lodge, check in and take some time to settle into your room and relax after your journey.
In the late afternoon, at approximately 3:50 PM, you will be collected from your accommodation and transferred to the departure point for your Zambezi River dinner cruise.
The Zambezi River is one of Southern Africa's most iconic waterways, flowing through a landscape of lush riverbanks, islands and natural habitats. As your boat cruises along the river, enjoy the peaceful scenery and watch for wildlife that may come to the water's edge. Depending on the conditions and season, you may encounter elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of bird species.
The dinner cruise lasts at least three hours and includes a delicious three-course dinner accompanied by unlimited beverages. It offers a relaxing introduction to the region, combining river scenery, dining and the atmosphere of an African sunset.
After the cruise, you will be transferred back to Dzimbahwe Lodge or your confirmed alternative accommodation for the night.
Highlights: Airport pickup, hotel transfer, Zambezi River dinner cruise, three-course dinner and unlimited beverages.
After breakfast at your accommodation, enjoy a relaxed morning before your guided exploration of Victoria Falls.
At approximately 10:00 AM, your guide will collect you from the hotel and transfer you to the entrance of Victoria Falls rainforest for a guided walking tour. The tour lasts approximately two hours and takes you through a series of viewpoints overlooking the magnificent waterfall.
Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning "The Smoke That Thunders," Victoria Falls is famous for its immense curtain of falling water, rising spray and surrounding rainforest. During the walk, your guide will explain the formation of the Falls, their geographical significance, the local history and the natural environment. You will have time to appreciate the scenery, take photographs and experience the different viewpoints along the trail.
Following the tour, you will be transferred back to your accommodation to relax, enjoy refreshments and prepare for the afternoon safari.
At approximately 2:40 PM, you will be collected for a three-hour game drive in either Zambezi National Park or Chamabondo National Park. The selected park will depend on the arrangements confirmed for your departure.
Accompanied by a knowledgeable safari guide, you will explore natural habitats in search of wildlife. Possible sightings include elephants, giraffes, buffalo, antelope and a variety of bird species. The experience provides an opportunity to learn about animal behaviour, the local ecosystem and the importance of wildlife conservation.
The game drive is expected to finish at approximately 5:40 PM, followed by your return transfer to the hotel, arriving at around 6:30 PM, subject to the day's operating conditions.
The evening is free for you to relax and enjoy dinner at your accommodation or a local restaurant, depending on your arrangements.
Highlights: Guided Victoria Falls tour, rainforest viewpoints, photography opportunities and a three-hour afternoon game drive.
After breakfast, check out of your accommodation in Victoria Falls and prepare for your journey into Botswana. At approximately 7:00 AM, your driver will collect you for the transfer towards the Botswana border and the Chobe region.
After completing the necessary immigration and border formalities, continue towards the Chobe River area, where your Botswana safari experience begins. Please ensure that you have the required travel documents available, as entry requirements vary according to nationality.
At approximately 9:00 AM, embark on a boat safari along the Chobe River, scheduled to continue until around 12:00 PM. The river is a major wildlife attraction and is particularly renowned for the large elephant herds that gather along its banks, especially during the dry season.
From the boat, you can observe wildlife from a different perspective, often at close range while maintaining an appropriate distance from the animals. Keep watch for elephants drinking or crossing the river, hippos resting in the water, crocodiles along the banks and numerous bird species. Your guide will help identify wildlife and explain the ecological importance of the river system.
At midday, enjoy a one-hour lunch break before continuing with an afternoon game drive in Chobe National Park.
The game drive takes you into the park's wildlife habitats in search of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, antelope and, where conditions permit, predators such as lions. The exact route and wildlife sightings will depend on the season, animal movements and park conditions.
After the safari, continue towards the Kachikau area, where you will check in at Destiny Blo Inn or the confirmed accommodation. The remainder of the evening is set aside for relaxation following a full day of transfers, boating and wildlife viewing.
Highlights: Cross-border journey into Botswana, Chobe River boat safari, lunch break, afternoon game drive and overnight stay in the Kachikau area.
Today is dedicated to one of the major highlights of your journey: a full-day safari into the Savuti region of Botswana.
After an early breakfast, depart from your accommodation in the Kachikau area for the drive towards Savuti. The journey takes you through remote parts of Botswana's wilderness, where the scenery gradually reveals the expansive landscapes and natural habitats that make this region a memorable safari destination.
Savuti forms part of the greater Chobe National Park ecosystem and is known for its changing landscapes, open grasslands, woodland areas and distinctive wildlife environment. It is particularly celebrated for elephant populations and its opportunities for observing predators, including lions and hyenas.
By approximately 9:00 AM, you are expected to be in the Savuti area and ready to begin your safari activities. Accompanied by your guide, explore suitable wildlife viewing areas while searching for animals and learning about their behaviour, habitats and survival strategies.
During the safari, keep watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelope, buffalo and other wildlife. Savuti is also an exciting area for predator sightings, although these depend on animal movements and cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will use their knowledge of the area to identify promising locations and make the most of the available wildlife viewing opportunities.
The safari continues until approximately 3:00 PM. After completing the day's exploration, begin the return journey towards Kachikau.
Arrive back at Destiny Blo Inn for your overnight stay. The evening is free to relax and reflect on your experiences in one of Botswana's celebrated wilderness areas.
Because the drive to Savuti and back can be substantial, guests should be prepared for a long day involving considerable time in the safari vehicle.
Highlights: Scenic wilderness drive, full-day Savuti safari, diverse wildlife habitats, wildlife photography and opportunities to encounter iconic African animals.
After breakfast, check out of Destiny Blo Inn and prepare for your return journey to Victoria Falls.
Today combines a final wildlife experience in Botswana with the journey back to Zimbabwe. Travel from the Kachikau area through Chobe National Park, enjoying further opportunities to observe the park's wildlife and scenery along the way.
As you explore the designated safari routes, look out for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, antelope and other animals that may be encountered. Each safari is different, and the wildlife you see will depend on animal movements, weather conditions and the route taken. Your guide will help you appreciate the diversity of the park's habitats and the importance of protecting its wildlife.
The day continues with the drive towards the Botswana–Zimbabwe border. You will complete the required border formalities before proceeding to Victoria Falls.
Depending on the final safari schedule, road conditions and the time needed for border procedures, arrival in Victoria Falls may be later in the afternoon or evening. The exact timing should be confirmed before travel, as the combination of a full-day safari and a cross-border transfer can make this a demanding day.
Upon arrival in Victoria Falls, you will be transferred to your confirmed accommodation for your final overnight stay.
Highlights: Final Botswana wildlife viewing, journey through Chobe National Park, cross-border transfer and return to Victoria Falls.
Enjoy your final morning in Victoria Falls with breakfast at your accommodation, depending on your flight departure time.
At the agreed time, an African Fairytale Tours & Safaris representative will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to Victoria Falls International Airport for your onward journey.
Please provide your flight details in advance so that the pickup time can be arranged appropriately. We recommend allowing sufficient time for the transfer, airline check-in and airport procedures.
As your adventure concludes, take with you lasting memories of the spectacular Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, Chobe National Park and the remote wilderness of Savuti.
